In collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) has started a scholarly journal to aid Arab families. The announcement was made at a formal ceremony that also marked the beginning of the sixth cycle of the DIFI OSRA Research Grant.
Both the DIFI journal and the OSRA Research Grant aim to support the development of creative and high-quality research to advance understanding of issues affecting Arab families and to offer policymakers evidence-based recommendations for policies and programs.
Speaking at the event was Dr. Sharifa Noaman Al Emadi, Executive Director of DIFI, a member of the Qatar Foundation. She emphasized DIFI’s institutional and ethical role in producing, publishing, and supporting scientific research, which is the foundation for policies and interventions. Dr. Al Emadi stated: “We felt the need for a scientific platform specializing in family issues to enable researchers to publish scientific and academic studies after years of producing various knowledge guidelines pertaining to complex topics of interest to Arab families.” She then issued an invitation to researchers to submit applications for publication of their work.
Dr. Al Emadi continued, “With the aim of enriching the Arab research agenda with various family topics, we have been able to support 48 research projects related to Arab families in various parts of the Arab world through five cycles of the grant.”
In his closing remarks, Dr. Al Emadi expressed his gratitude to the Qatar National Research Fund for its ongoing support of the grant program and to the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council for its technical assistance in the establishment of DIFI’s grant platform.
An introduction to the DIFI journal was given by Dr. Rima Isaifan, Head of Academic and Journals Publishing at HBKU Press and joint Associate Professor at the college of science and engineering at HBKU.
Due to its distinctive contribution to family research and policy-related topics, the Doha International Family Institute journal is a valuable addition to our portfolio of peer-reviewed journals at QScience.com. The honor of collaborating with DIFI to disseminate and promote evidence-based knowledge in order to develop family-related policies at the national, regional, and international levels is given to Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press.
In addition, Dr. Azza Abdel Moneim, an authority on family research, and Fatima Al Mutawa, a researcher and grants specialist from DIFI, gave overviews of the journal’s terms and conditions, the OSRA Research Grant’s goals, the priority research areas chosen for the sixth cycle, and participant eligibility.
