Senegal’s advancement to the round of 16 of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup sparked joyous scenes in Dakar. After the Lions’ flawless performance and 2-1 victory over Ecuador, their supporters celebrated all over Dakar’s streets.
Aliou Cissé’s team advanced to the next round thanks to the victory, and many of their supporters are now wishing for the best.
“We are thrilled about the Lions’ qualification. Now all we can do is hope they take the cup with them, a supporter prayed.
Senegal initially fell short against Switzerland in their opening match, but they gained momentum when they defeated the hosts Qatar in their subsequent contest. Although it seemed impossible for them to defeat Ecuador, the Lions of Teranga summoned all of their strength to defeat their foes.
Senegal was the first country from Africa to advance to the round of 16.
We are proud to be Senegalese today because we are the first African country to make it to the eighth final, just like all Africans around the world and all Senegalese. Therefore, as you can see from the pride on our faces today, we are proud. We are extremely proud of our Lions today because they worked so hard to earn our qualification for the next round, a supporter said.
