Femi Otedola, a Nigerian billionaire, has discussed how he avoided suicide after losing $480 million in the diesel market circa 2008.

According to GWG.ng, Otedola, the famous Nigerian DJ Cuppy’s father, spoke of the support and perseverance he received from Akin Akinfemiwa, the CEO of his companies, when he was going through a difficult time.

The Untold Tale Of Femi Otedola’s Turning Away From Suicide is Unveiled

On Tuesday in London, he gave a speech at Akin Akinfemiwa’s 50th birthday celebration.

Nairametrics said that Femi Otedola claimed that Akin Akinfemiwa was largely responsible for the revival of his enterprises after he refrained from taking his own life as a result of the drop in diesel prices that left him short.
He stated:

“I would describe my connection with Akin as one in which destiny wins. I had a buddy who worked at Oando back in 2005, and she did tell me about her coworker. Akin and I spoke after she gave him a call.

“I founded my training company in London Fine Shade Energy, but I had trouble finding a reliable merchant. Akin’s employer, Dimeji Edwards, was the one I called. Akin answered the phone and asked to come see me.

“So when he arrived, I told him to listen because I wanted to offer him a job. Please come work for me. He returned to Wale and Mofe, his former employers at Oando, of course. You want to go work for that man, they asked? In six years, that has fired six CEOs.

“Now that the company failed, I can truly claim that fate wins. I created a vast empire. I had access to 93% of the diesel I needed. I played around a little too much, and the company failed. The only choice I had at that time was to end my life. Naturally, I then had thoughts of Nana and the kids. I responded, “No, I won’t kill myself.”
