Klopp discusses his outburst of rage and emotion toward the referees

Following Liverpool’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp attributed his actions to anger and emotion.

In front of fourth official John Brooks, the Liverpool manager ran along the sideline to celebrate Diogo Jota’s late winner and was given a yellow card by referee Paul Tierney.

After the game, Klopp said he was unaware of Tierney’s “relationship” with the team and criticized remarks the referee made about him.

Some people have criticized Klopp’s actions, and on Tuesday, he made an attempt to defend himself.

“The entire incident shouldn’t have taken place. In that instant, it was motivated by emotion and rage, according to Klopp. “For that reason, I celebrated in the manner that I did.

“I attempted to decompress after the game but failed miserably. In TV interviews, I declared: “What he (Tierney) said to me was not OK.” Even though I didn’t want to, I opened the box. The rest of what I said related to how I was feeling at the time and Paul Tierney playing our games. Although I don’t have resentment, these things that happened in the past still exist. They weren’t done on purpose.

After appearing to hurt his hamstring during his celebration at Anfield, Klopp abruptly stood up.

Despite not officiating any matches this weekend, Tierney will serve as the fourth official for West Ham’s match against Manchester United on Sunday and the VAR official for Nottingham Forest’s match against Southampton the following day.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited responded to Klopp’s remarks shortly after Liverpool’s match against Tottenham by vehemently refuting “any suggestion that Tierney’s actions were improper.”

Before his team’s home game against Fulham on Wednesday, Klopp said: “With all the things, I might expect a punishment. Refs believe I questioned their moral character, but if I’m sitting here calmly, I don’t. We must wait to see what they have to say.
