Thousands of Muslims in Kenya gathered along the shores of the Indian Ocean to observe Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the conclusion of Ramadan with a sense of unity and celebration. Due to limited space at the mosque, worshippers performed their prayers on the beach, embracing the communal spirit of the occasion.
During the sermon, a local preacher encouraged the faithful to keep the people of Gaza in their thoughts, urging prayers for peace and support for those affected by ongoing hardships.
“Muslims have come together here at Kongo Beach to celebrate Eid,” said Mohamed Hassan, a preacher from Kongo River Mosque, located near the shore. “We encourage everyone to spread joy and extend as much assistance as possible to the people of Gaza so they may also find happiness on this special day.”
As Muslims worldwide bid farewell to the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr is welcomed with prayers, festivities, and gatherings with loved ones. The celebration is traditionally marked by communal prayers, family visits, shared meals, and the wearing of new clothes, symbolizing renewal and gratitude.
