1 min read

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his counterpart from the Republic of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso, in Beijing on Friday, reaffirming their commitment to advancing China-Africa cooperation through high-quality development initiatives.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between China and the Republic of Congo, describing their partnership as a model for solidarity and collaboration between China and African nations. He emphasized the significance of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as the primary platform for fostering unity and mutual growth.

As part of this commitment, Wang expressed China’s readiness to work alongside the Republic of Congo to implement the resolutions of the previous year’s FOCAC Beijing Summit, particularly the “Ten Collaborative Initiatives” designed to strengthen cooperation across vital sectors.

Strengthening Global Collaboration
Amid ongoing global challenges, Wang urged China and African nations to strengthen their collaboration in safeguarding the interests of developing countries while contributing to global peace, stability, and economic progress.

In response, Gakosso reiterated the Republic of Congo’s dedication to its role as co-chair of FOCAC. He affirmed his country’s willingness to cooperate with China in organizing upcoming events such as the ministerial coordination meeting on FOCAC implementation and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. These efforts, he stated, would further solidify achievements in Africa-China cooperation and drive progress in economic and diplomatic engagements.
