The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Apple Inc. is planning to hire Chinese contract manufacturer Luxshare Precision Industry Co Ltd (002475.SZ) to produce premium iPhone models.
In order to make up for lost production at Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory last year, Luxshare has been producing a small quantity of the iPhone 14 Pro Max at its Kunshan plant, according to the report.
Analysts anticipated Apple to broaden its supplier base in light of production halts in China brought on by worker unrest at a Foxconn factory and lockdowns brought on by COVID-19.
Apple issued a warning in November about lower shipments of its high-end iPhone 14 models as a result of significant production cuts.
