Tierra Young Allen, a social media influencer who is now facing jail time, has been held in custody in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (The U.A.E. ), for more than two months after being accused of “the crime” of yelling.
After Young, 29, got into a fight with a rental firm in April, problems started. Young and a friend had been hurt in an accident involving a business vehicle.
Young had gone back to the business to retrieve some of her goods when she got a bill she didn’t expect. In short time, a fight broke out, and when it did, Young screamed, breaking one of the nation’s noise ordinances for public areas.
Tina Baxter, Young’s mother, revealed that her daughter might now be sentenced to prison for the crime in an interview with Fox 26 where she was reliving her child’s trauma.
It’s rather frightful,” adds Baxter, who went on to describe how events changed when her daughter went to the rental car business to get her ID and credit card, among other things, that were left in the vehicle.
She learned that in order to obtain such products, she had to pay an undisclosed sum of money. She confronted with a young man who was screaming at her and was very violent.
Eventually, according to Baxter, her daughter yelled back, leading to “the crime” of shouting being brought against her.
The dispute was recorded on a security video that will be played at the trial.
Allen’s passport has subsequently been seized by Dubai authorities, who have also banned her from leaving the country while the case is being looked into.
Quanell X, a well-known American activist and the head of the New Black Panther Nation in Houston, who has been active in Young’s case, indicated that theocracy has a strong influence on the country’s stringent regulations.
Quanell X continued by saying that raising one’s voice is not accepted in the country, especially for women.
“They have a theocratic legal system that is rigorous. She yelled, “I’m in jail for one reason and one reason only.” A woman is not even permitted to raise her voice in that nation. She faces jail time if she raises her voice, according to Quanell X.
“In our view, she didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t penalise women in Dubai for carrying out the same actions as males. Both fairness and justice are violated.
