U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Iran, officially bringing an end to the intense 12-day conflict between the two nations.
Sharing the news via his Truth Social platform, Trump urged both sides to respect the truce and avoid any actions that could break the peace. The announcement followed a major missile attack launched by Iran toward Israel, which Tehran referred to as its final assault. That attack led to the deaths of four individuals in Beersheba, a city in Israel’s south.
As of now, details regarding Iranian casualties or injuries from the overnight retaliation remain unclear.
In his post, Trump appeared optimistic about the effectiveness of the ceasefire, suggesting that both countries would be allowed to complete any critical operations already in progress before fully transitioning into the ceasefire phase.
“If everything proceeds as expected—which I believe it will—I want to commend both nations for showing the strength, wisdom, and determination needed to end what will be remembered as ‘The 12-Day War,’” Trump wrote.
Trump referred to the ceasefire as a significant step forward and ended his statement with a unifying message, extending blessings to Israel, Iran, the Middle East, the United States, and the entire world.
Though military exchanges between the two countries carried on into the early morning hours, both governments have now reportedly agreed to honor the ceasefire and bring the hostilities to a close.
