The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, declared that the force would be impartial before and throughout the 2023 elections.

The assurance was given by the IGP during a meeting with Defence Attachés on Thursday in Abuja.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated that the police would maintain professionalism while enforcing the law.

Baba stated that the security agency was committed to effectively managing election security in the country.

“The IGP is collaborating with all interest groups, companies, and foreign agencies to achieve our objectives,” Adejobi stated.

Baba recently met with some companies to discuss the acquisition of non-lethal weapons, such as water cannons, for crowd control and other anti-vice operations.

Adejobi also urged political parties, candidates, groups, and individuals to follow the law.

“They must uphold order, peaceful coexistence, and harmony before, during, and after the elections,” he added.
