Sudan conflict: children are at more danger

1 min read

According to a new UNICEF report made public on Tuesday, 13.6 million children in Sudan, or one in every two children, are in immediate need of humanitarian aid.

According to a UN report, 1.5 million children have been displaced since the battle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) started on April 15.

According to UNICEF Sudan, it has provided 1.4 million people with safe drinking water and over 3 million women and children with health supplies.

Despite this, the organization cautions that the humanitarian crisis is only going to get worse since “critical needs are rapidly multiplying” and that there is no sign of a resolution to the conflict.

Fighting broke out between the army and the rebels on Saturday

the SPLM-N (South Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North) in Kadugli, the state capital of South Kordofan.

Five of the city’s six military bases are now under the control of the SPLM-N, which has encircled the city.

The violent war that started in Khartoum’s southern suburbs has now extended to the entire city as well as neighbouring states.

The “Children’s Crisis”
According to UNICEF, the continuous fighting is causing a “deepening children’s crisis”. As a result of inadequate fundamental services like immunization, children are increasingly more susceptible to disease.

According to the research, measles outbreaks and a rise in death rates linked to acute malnutrition have occurred in Darfur and the White Nile.

Humanitarian aid is required for 24.7 million people nationwide.

Ever since the conflict began, there have 6,000 injuries and more than 3,000 fatalities. UNICEF reports that 1,900 people have been injured and over 330 children have died as a result.
