Liam Payne’s Family Condemns Media for Causing ‘Lasting Harm’
The family of late pop star Liam Payne has spoken out against the media, accusing it of causing “indescribable, lasting damage” through its coverage of his passing.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, they expressed that relentless media attention and speculation had intensified their pain, particularly affecting Payne’s young son, Bear. The family reiterated their request for privacy, urging for the time and space to grieve in peace.

Payne tragically lost his life last October after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old.

Their statement follows the decision by Argentinian authorities to drop manslaughter charges against Payne’s friend, Rogelio “Roger” Nores, along with two hotel staff members. However, two other individuals are still facing legal action for allegedly supplying drugs to the singer on the night of his death.

Tribute at the Brit Awards

On Saturday, the Brit Awards honored Payne with an emotional tribute led by comedian and close friend Jack Whitehall.

He achieved a great deal during his time with us.. He wasn’t just an exceptionally talented musician, but also a kindhearted soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met,” Whitehall remarked.

The tribute featured a montage of Payne’s life, showcasing interviews, photos, and performances, set to One Direction’s Little Things.

Family’s Statement
In their message, Payne’s family acknowledged the tribute and joined in celebrating his life.

“Liam’s passing is an unimaginable tragedy. This is a time of deep sorrow for those who knew and loved him. He had a promising future ahead. Instead, his son Bear has lost a father, his parents Geoff and Karen have lost a son, and his sisters Ruth and Nicola have lost their brother. His friends and devoted fans have lost someone they held close to their hearts,” the statement read.

While recognizing the necessity of the investigation into Payne’s death, the family accepted the Court of Appeal’s ruling to drop all charges. However, they criticized the overwhelming media coverage, stating that it had been particularly distressing for Payne’s young son, who is experiencing emotions no child should have to endure.

Reaffirming their plea for privacy, the family asked for the opportunity to grieve without public intrusion.

Reflecting on the Brit Awards tribute, they expressed gratitude for the recognition of Payne’s contributions to music and the happiness he brought to his fans worldwide.
“Liam, you are deeply loved and missed.
