Celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have sold their Malibu beach house for $6.775 million, less than two months after listing it for sale, according to a person familiar with the deal.
The retired Yankees star and Ms. Lopez, an actress and singer, purchased the property last year for $6.6 million from “Entourage” actor Jeremy Piven and demolished much of the interior, the person said.

Last year, Ms. Lopez said during an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she had plans to fix up the property with the help of Joanna Gaines, one of the stars of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” but those plans did not materialize, the person said.
The speed at which the deal was finalized speaks to the strength of the market in the Los Angeles area and in Malibu in particular, which has experienced a rush in rental deals amid the Covid-19 crisis, according to local agents.
The roughly 4,400-square-foot beachfront house had a gated garden courtyard, an expansive deck with a hot tub and a lower-level entertainment area with a built-in bar, according to the original listing. Carl Gambino of Compass represented both sides of the deal.
A spokeswoman for Ms. Lopez declined to comment. A spokesman for Mr. Rodriguez was not immediately available for comment.
The celebrity couple were defeated in their bid to buy the New York Mets by billionaire hedge-fund manager Steven A. Cohen, The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week. They recently purchased a $32.5 million mansion on Miami’s Star Island.
