The College of Pharmacy at Qatar University (QU) organized its first Entrepreneurship Day in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SIEED) in order to help college students develop their leadership and innovative skills in order to meet future challenges and help Qatar realize its National Vision 2030.
Through the participation of some of the most knowledgeable entrepreneurs specialists, the workshop enhanced the educational and discussion sessions.
This comprises Gordon McConnell, an international authority on entrepreneurial transformation and the monetization of innovations in higher education, and Dr. Lotfi Belkhair, the Associate Director for Entrepreneurial Transformation at SIEED. Dr. Walid Kronfleh, a pharmacist and biomedical entrepreneur in Qatar and the United States, shared and discussed his personal experiences with students.
“I am inspired by the creativity and ambition of our students and faculty who dare to challenge conventional norms,” said Dr. Feras Alali, dean of the College of Pharmacy. Today, as they set out to revolutionize the pharmacy industry, we honor the creative minds who embrace the revolutionary potential of entrepreneurship.By utilizing the entrepreneurship principles, we may increase our effect, promote creativity, and provide long-lasting solutions to the problems facing our society.
We are delighted to work with the premier QU College of Pharmacy on innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives for students, teachers, and researchers, said Dr. Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Director of SIEED and Secretary of the Board of Directors of QU’s Holding Company (QU Holding). The College of Pharmacy community can be encouraged to be entrepreneurial through activities like these. It is also a first step in assisting students in starting pharmaceutical firms, which would be a distinctive contribution to the country’s environment for innovation and knowledge-based economies given the dearth of deep technological startups in Qatar and the GCC. Participating students made a significant contribution to enhancing the conversation and taking part in the session’s positive and optimistic debate.
The program produced a pilot project proposal, which was delivered to the university’s Strategic Innovation Office by student Fatima Nazar.
