YouTube wants to make it illegal to promote cancer therapies that have been shown to be hazardous or unsuccessful or to discourage viewers from getting medical help. This covers material that urges patients to use experimental therapies in place of recommended care or as a guarantee of recovery, as well as therapies that have been expressly labeled dangerous by medical professionals, such as the false recommendation that patients take vitamin C in place of radiation therapy.
YouTube has struggled to keep films with medical misinformation under control, especially after the COVID-19 outbreak started, but during the past two years, it has expanded its restriction on vaccine misinformation.
