Estimates of Qatar’s GDP price at QR228 billion: PSA

The third quarter of 2022 GDP is expected to total QR 228.423 billion at current prices, according to the most recent Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) data.

Comparing this to the projection for the same quarter last year, which came to QR174.814 billion, shows a rise of 30.7 percent.

Meanwhile, a rise of almost 5.5 percent, or QR216.468 billion, was reported when compared to its prior quarter.

The quarterly publication ‘Window on Economic Statistics of Qatar’, in its 42nd issue, said that “The quarterly GDP at constant prices (2018=100) shows an increase of 4.3 percent in Q3 of 2022 (QR175.028bn) compared to the estimate of Q3 of 2021 (QR167.782bn).”

On the other hand, a crucial increase of 3.6 percent, estimated at QR 168.879 billion, was noted when compared to the second quarter of 2022.

According to the data, activities related to mining and quarrying have improved when compared to the preceding quarters.

“The nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR105.896bn in Q3 2022, which shows an increase of 56.2 percent over the estimate of Q3 2021 placed at QR 67.812bn,” the statement read.

The GVA of this industry did, however, improve by 8% when compared to the estimate for the prior quarter (Q2 2022), which was QR98.086 billion.

On the other hand, a crucial increase of 3.6 percent, estimated at QR 168.879 billion, was noted when compared to the second quarter of 2022.

According to the data, activities related to mining and quarrying have improved when compared to the preceding quarters.

“The nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR105.896bn in Q3 2022, which shows an increase of 56.2 percent over the estimate of Q3 2021 placed at QR 67.812bn,” the statement read.

The GVA of this industry did, however, improve by 8% when compared to the estimate for the prior quarter (Q2 2022), which was QR98.086 billion.

The revised estimate, however, revealed that QR118.382bn had increased by 3.5 percent compared to the second quarter of 2022.

“The real GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR110.651bn in Q3 2022, showing an increase of 5.3 percent over the estimate of the third quarter of 2021 (QR 105.097bn),” the statement continued.

The updated projection revealed 104.995 billion, a rise of 5.4 percent when compared to the second quarter of 2022.
