Education Above All discusses role of innovation in enhancing education outcomes

1 min read

In order to discuss the role of innovation in enhancing educational outcomes for formerly out-of-school children enrolled through EAC projects at the primary level, the global education foundation Education Above All (EAA) organized a session at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) with the Global Education Forum (GEF) in Columbia.

H E Alcira Sosa, Vice-Minister of Basic Education for Paraguay, participated in the discussion as part of an audience address that explored the context of Paraguay, Ministry of Education strategy, and pedagogical development. The session was moderated by Mary Joy Pigozzi, PhD, Executive Director of EAA’s Educate A Child program.

The speech was followed by a series of presentations that highlighted numerous inventive educational developments and their real-world implementation in EAC collaborative partnership projects. The Universal Design for Learning concepts were given by Unicef, who also showed how they could be used successfully in Paraguay.

The Pies Descalzos Foundation presented on its innovative hybrid project, which integrates playful and engaging strategies with conventional education, social-emotional learning, and the improvement of educational infrastructure and communications in Colombia. BuildOn gave an engrossing presentation on their successful use of traditional Mayan practices in a modern context in Guatemala. These talks emphasized the innovative ways that innovation might improve educational achievements and the significance of providing context-specific solutions for children who are not in school.

Partners had the opportunity to talk on the significance of innovation in improving educational results during this session, which was centered on a number of EAC collaborative partnership initiatives in Latin America. Additionally, it aimed to foster an appreciation of the value of innovation in education. Participants in the session shared their perspectives on the transformative potential of innovative programs, services, approaches, products, and collaborations, as well as how they influence the educational landscape.

As our societies struggle with ingrained economic disparities, underfunded infrastructure, and a dearth of high-quality education, many are also faced with the distinct challenges and potential for additional barriers to education, such as climate change, armed conflict, and health crises, according to Pigozzi. For stakeholders to quickly support the adjustments required to usher in a more sustainable future for everybody, creative adaptation of the current educational offers we have heard about today is vital.
