Covid-19: Morocco bans flights coming from China

1 min read

In an effort to prevent a potential new wave of coronavirus infections, Morocco announced on Saturday that it was imposing a travel ban on people from China.

According to a statement from the foreign affairs ministry, all visitors from China, regardless of their nationality, would be subject to the restrictions.

The statement also stated that the ban would be in effect “from January 3 and until further notice.”

In December, China lifted its strict Covid restrictions, which caused an increase in cases. Beijing claims that most of the cases following the reopening have been mild, and the country has some of the highest vaccination rates in the world.

Chinese authorities also declared that as of January 8th, travel across their borders would once again be permitted with only the presentation of negative PCR tests.

Similar to the United States and South Korea, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom have said they will require a Covid test of travelers arriving from China.
