The Chennai Super Kings defeated the defending champion Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the penultimate ball to win the Indian Premier League for a record-tying sixth time.

In order to assist the Super Kings reach their revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs, Ravindra Jadeja ripped a six and a four out of Mohit Sharma’s final two deliveries.

The final took the IPL three days to complete. It washed out on Sunday, got going late on Monday, and ended about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday local time. Though it was worthwhile.

Jadeja stated, “I was just thinking I need to swing hard, as much as I can. “I wasn’t considering where the ball would land. In order to hit straight because I knew Mohit could bowl the slower balls, I was backing myself up.

Ambati Rayudu, who is retiring, now shares the league’s most trophies with Rohit Sharma after Chennai won the league’s record-equaling fifth title.

It’s a fairytale ending, said Rayudu. “I’ve had the good fortune to play for some incredibly elite teams. I’ll continue to be able to grin.

Sai Sudharsan’s 96, which was a highlight of Gujarat’s 214-4 total, the highest ever total in an IPL final, was sent in to bat first.

Opening pair Devon Conway (47 off 25) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26 off 16) both had outstanding starts. Within the four-over powerplay, they built a half-century stand, scoring 17 runs in legspinner Rashid Khan’s opening over.

Noor Ahmad, a spinner, struck out both of Chennai’s openers in the same over. Rayudu smacked Mohit Sharma for 6-4-6 in the 13th over after Ajinkya Rahane had added 27 runs off of 13, and the spinner replied by taking two wickets in quick succession.

He got Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni caught at extra cover for a first-ball duck and grabbed a return catch to get rid of Rayudu. Jadeja was left with Shivam Dube, who scored an unblemished 32 off 21.

After leading the team to 10 finals and serving as captain of the Chennai franchise from the IPL’s inception, Dhoni claimed he would be willing to continue.

The 41-year-old former captain of India stated, “The easy thing for me to say is, ‘Thank you,’ and quit. The difficult task, though, is to put in a solid nine months of work in order to try to play in one more IPL season. Given the support I have received from CSK supporters, having them play another season would be a blessing.

In his outstanding penultimate over, Mohammed Shami reduced Chennai’s run total to 13 off of six balls. Prior to Jadeja’s last-ditch heroics, Mohit Sharma, who finished with 3-36, gave up just three runs off the first four deliveries.

Earlier, Gujarat gained momentum as a result of Chennai’s early fielding errors. Deepak Chahar wasted catching opportunities against Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill.

Gill, who finished the competition with the most runs (890), made 39 off 20 before Dhoni stumped him. Sha reached 54.

Sudharsan contributed to two half-century stands: 81 off 33 with Titans skipper Hardik Pandya and 64 with Saha.

Sudharsan dominated the late overs with his eight boundaries and six sixes. Prior to pacer Matheesha Pathirana’s brilliant yorker pinning him in the final over, he was within striking distance of a well-deserved century.

We toy with our hearts and check a lot of boxes, according to Pandya. “No one ever gave up, and we’ve always been a team that stood together. Perhaps one of those games today where we both win and lose together.

“I’m thrilled for (Dhoni).” This was predetermined for him by fate. I wouldn’t mind losing to him if I had to. pleasant individuals experience pleasant things.
