Maha Al Ruwaili, assistant undersecretary for education affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasized that summer centers are locations for honing talents and skills because they offer students in the centers affiliated with the Ministry purposeful and varied educational activities during the summer break.
Al Ruwaili underlined the value of summer camps in helping kids focus their energy and fill their summer vacations with productive activities while also allowing them the chance to have fun after the rigors of school in a statement to QNA.
Summer programs offer a great opportunity to identify students’ talents and qualify them academically, scientifically, culturally, socially, and behaviorally through targeted summer programs, she continued, adding that summer camps contribute positively to discovering talents, honing skills, and investing time. She noted that this time of year is sufficient for recreation, entertainment, and morale renewal.
The Summer Centers Program was been introduced by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for the second consecutive year. The program will run in a variety of centers for boys and girls until August 16.
Al Ruwaili claims that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education assigned 5 centers for male students and 2 centers for female students, located in various regions, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
She stated that almost 2,000 male and female students from various educational levels, including Qatari children and residents as well as Qataris enrolled in private schools, have been registered so far on the computerized system and have been physically registered in the summer centers. These facilities provide a wide range of activities with a purpose in every area to pique students’ interests and occupy their free time.
Summer camps play a significant role in focusing the energies of children and their parents, filling their summer with enjoyable and practical activities while providing them with the opportunity for pleasure, according to the Assistant Undersecretary for Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Consequently, it provides parents with a chance to participate, find their abilities, and both for the pupils’ advantage and to communicate.
She continued, highlighting the desire of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to activate the educational and social role of parents, that parents can coordinate with those in charge of the centers to participate in providing useful information to students through lectures, specialized workshops, and useful lessons, in accordance with the procedures followed in such cases.
Al Ruwaili appreciated the contributions made by the parties taking part in the summer camps’ activities, particularly the Ministry of Sports and Youth, as well as the Ministries of the Interior, the Defense, the Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Department of Family Empowerment at the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, and other public and private state institutions, in putting on a variety of sporting and cultural events and other events.
Al Ruwaili discussed the safety precautions and procedures implemented by the Ministry in her statement to QNA, adding that the Ministry puts significant importance to the safety and security of students during their summer activities.
Students of all age groups are given priority by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education because they are one of the metrics used to gauge society’s growth, she continued. She emphasized that caring for students, whether in classrooms or summer camps, means caring for the nation’s future and the next generation’s ability to grow up prepared to meet the demands and challenges of the quick-moving changes in Qatar.
