The lifting of the sanctions against Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea as a result of military coups will be discussed at a meeting of the African Union’s (AU) Peace and Security Council, which was announced on Friday.

All three nations have been expelled from the Economic Community of West African States since 2020. (ECOWAS).

The meeting to discuss lifting the sanctions has not yet been given a date by the African Union.

The three involved nations made a request last week to have their suspension from the AU lifted.

A summit aimed at accelerating the creation of a free trade area is taking place this weekend in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
