80-year-old Michael and 60-year-old Oladosu have been brought before the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps for allegedly damaging equipment belonging to the Ekiti State Water Corporation at Okemesi Ekiti in the state’s Ekiti West Local Government area.
Brigadier General Joe Komolafe (retired), the Corps Commandant, revealed that Michael and Oladosu were apprehended by Amotekun agents at Okemesi Ekiti while allegedly damaging equipment owned by the state water corporation.
According to him, the corps agents detained three individuals for reportedly breaking into a home in the Tinuola neighborhood of Ado Ekiti, the state’s capital.
The culprits, identified as 26-year-old Rufai, 30-year-old Ibrahim, and 30-year-old Yahaya, were caught with the assistance of locals, according to Komolafe.
According to him, “our operatives received a distress call from a member of the public in the early hours of Tuesday informing them that some suspected vandals had broken into a residential house nearby and vandalized a pumping machine installed in one of the houses in the area, after which they took action.
The accused would be turned over to the police for additional investigation and prosecution, the corps commandant announced.
He urged citizens of the state to provide accurate information without holding back so that the corps could carry out its duties and help clear the state of illegal activity.
Komolafe reaffirmed the corps’ readiness to continue ensuring the safety of the lives and property of the state’s citizens.
