The event received a favorable review from the chairman of the international committee for the ninth Francophonie Games.
Zeina Mina’s remarks follow a week of competition in which hundreds of individuals competed in Kinshasa.
We have a participation rate that is almost as high as the Abidjan games, the previous games that were held in Abidjan, despite all the challenges, worries, and uncertainty surrounding this event and the two postponements, said Mina.
“So, the final tally is that we have about 3,533 participants.”
37 nations are taking part in the games, which are being held from July 28 to August 6.
Any initial difficulties were quickly overcome, according to Mina, who now wants to see young people in Congo gain from the situation.
It must be acknowledged that the host nation successfully organized and delivered the Francophonie Games, undoubtedly with the assistance of the international Organization of the Francophonie.
The State must actually make use of the infrastructure that has been put in place, expand it, and make it accessible to Congolese young. “But what strikes me is the people around the sites who rush to get in just to see something new,” the author says.
She continued by saying that the games shouldn’t be viewed as merely tournaments and contests but rather as an important component of a larger societal initiative to train officials, organize events, and create physical education programs.
