The Legacy of Love Gala’s second year will be announced by Whitney Houston’s estate

A special event will be arranged to remember Whitney Houston, who would have been 60 this year, and to raise money for charity.

The singer’s estate, Sony, and Primary Wave Music are putting on the second annual Whitney Houston Legacy of Love on August 9 to raise money for the late singer’s charity that helps young people.

Houston’s close pals BeBe Winans and Kim Burrell, as well as Whitney’s brother Gary, who toured with her for three decades, will sing at the event at Atlanta’s St. Regis Hotel.

“Whitney threw me two birthday celebrations when I turned 50: one in London and one in Ireland. Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law and executor of her estate, Pat Houston, said, “I usually tell everyone now that one of them was for her. Houston, 48, passed away in February 2012. We’re all excited to participate in the power of love in that room this year as Whitney turns 60.

The Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, established by the singer in 1989, strives to empower young people by giving unhoused kids access to resources, awarding college scholarships, and raising money for organizations like the Children’s Defense Fund and St. Jude Children’s Research.

The foundation will earn money through a charity auction.

When Dolly Parton performed “I Will Always Love You” at Country Music Television’s “100 Greatest Love Songs of Country Music” special in 2004, Pat Houston donned a stunning lavender outfit, which will be auctioned off. Given that Whitney’s favorite hue is lavender, this garment is very noteworthy.

Houston recorded the Parton-penned song, which went on to become one of her most famous and enduring songs. Early last year, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) granted the song diamond certification, indicating that 10 million equivalent units of the song have been sold and streamed in the US. Houston became the third woman, after Mariah Carey and Cher, to ever earn diamond-status with both a single and an album when it became her first diamond single.

The honorary chairman will be Clive Davis. Harvey Mason Jr., president of the Recording Academy, is expected to attend. Both Rickey Minor, the musical director for Whitney Houston, and Larry Jackson from Gamma are anticipated.

Whitney is the star, as I usually tell people, Pat Houston stated. She is still demonstrating her loyalty despite the fact that everyone in the room is royalty.
