30 international auto brands will attend the first-ever GIMS Qatar, which will be hosted in Doha from October 5 to 14, 2023. This is a joint initiative between Qatar Tourism and the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS).
The Qatari nation will host some of the most prestigious athletic events in the world, including the Formula 1 ® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix in 2023 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This will be the first time the Geneva International Motor Show has been held outside of Switzerland.
The GIMS’ original, first-of-its-kind event idea, which is setting new benchmarks for transcontinental motor shows and organically enhancing the marketing strategies of major OEMs and suppliers, is reflected in the strong demand from exhibitors.
Attending the show, car aficionados will have the chance to be among the first to view 10 revolutionary new vehicles that will be presented at the event. More than 10,000 m2 of space will be occupied by exhibitors at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). Visitors and guests will be able to enjoy a varied and comprehensive festival experience at a total of five prestigious outside locations located all around the nation. Following the end of registrations in June, GIMS will now start the space allocation procedure. In the upcoming weeks, participating brands will be introduced on the GIMS social media channels.
According to Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer at Qatar Tourism, “Qatar is the right venue to start the first-ever GIMS to be hosted outside of its home nation with its vast selection of great hotels, thrilling excursions, and intriguing monuments. Qatar has kept up a remarkable pace since the conclusion of the FIFA World CupTM last year, drawing record numbers of tourists and preserving its sports heritage through a number of major international sporting events that have occurred in the first half of the year. By 2030, Qatar will have the fastest-growing tourism industry in the region, and we’re getting ready for an exciting social schedule in the months ahead.
“Excitement is growing for the first edition of the Qatar show in Doha, which is now only a few months away,” said Sandro Mesquita, CEO of the Geneva International Motor exhibition. We’re on course to close the gap by establishing the occasion as the Middle East’s new, premier auto show.

Beginning on October 5 with an exclusive opening ceremony and gala dinner, GIMS Qatar will then receive international media on October 6 before welcoming the general public from October 7 to October 14. The competition was timed to take place in conjunction with the 2023 Formula 1 ® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix, which will also be held in Doha from 6 to 8 October. The complete schedule of events for GIMS Qatar will shortly be made public. A Forum for the Future of Car Design will be hosted at the National Museum of Qatar among the events. Additionally, there will be off-road adventure opportunities in Sealine Desert, ride-and-drive opportunities at the Lusail International Circuit, and the opportunity to visit a gallery showcasing the best classic cars.
Major events and conferences have a long and thriving history in Qatar. The largest B2B event for destination weddings was held in March of this year at the 9th Annual Destination Wedding Planners Congress, which was hosted by Qatar Tourism. Additionally, the only B2B and B2C event of its sort in the region is the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition.
