Qatar intends to build a brand-new comprehensive cancer center

Qatar has disclosed plans to construct a cutting-edge comprehensive cancer center in an ambitious move to advance cancer care.

This effort intends to advance the country’s commitment to guaranteeing top-notch medical services for everyone in light of the notable improvements in cancer care over the past ten years.

Citizens, residents, and patients from other countries who choose to receive their cancer treatment in Qatar will receive cancer care from the new ultra-specialized comprehensive cancer center.

Details on the new center are provided in the Qatar Cancer Plan 2023–2026 chapter on “Quality Treatment and Ongoing Care.”

“Centralizing care into a new comprehensive cancer center will raise the profile of and confidence in, cancer services in the country, having a direct impact on patient care, outcomes, and expenditure across the country,” Dr. Mohamed Salem Al Hassan writes in the chapter for the Hamad Medical Corporation’s National Centre for Cancer Care and Research.

“For some time, the necessity for a brand-new, all-encompassing cancer center has been debated. There is currently strong evidence supporting the need for such a center to preserve and advance Qatar’s excellence in cancer care.

2023–2026 Qatar Cancer Plan-compliant The design of the new cancer center has been done with great care and thought; HMC has worked closely with HMC clinicians to develop the facility while working with world-class architects and engineers on a worldwide scale.

The goal was to design a state-of-the-art tower that anticipates future needs resulting from anticipated population development and provides space for the anticipated increase in annual cancer diagnoses.

To obtain the best clinical results, the new comprehensive cancer center will employ the most recent cancer treatment technology, such as proton beam therapy. Patients, their families, and their careers will all have access to a variety of amenities through the new comprehensive cancer center.

Additionally, it will integrate the translation of research efforts with top-notch clinical care to guarantee that patients in Qatar receive a standard of care that is superior to all others in the globe and the region.

The Qatar Cancer Plan 2023–2026 also emphasizes the need to build on the remarkable advancements in cancer treatment over the previous ten years and keep up the momentum in order to guarantee that everyone in Qatar has access to top-notch care; the continued focus is necessary to increase capacity and capability to provide services. It claims that in order to ensure that resources are used effectively, screening services must be trusted to identify cases promptly and properly.
