Markel (MKL) came out with quarterly earnings of $13.77 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $12.94 per share. This compares to earnings of $4.41 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.– Zacks

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 6.41%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this insurer would post earnings of $15.45 per share when it actually produced earnings of $19.14, delivering a surprise of 23.88%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

Markel, which belongs to the Zacks Insurance – Property and Casualty industry, posted revenues of $2.71 billion for the quarter ended September 2021, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.13%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $2.37 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates two times over the last four quarters.
