One of our users recently inquired about setting up an autoblog in WordPress. An autoblog is a WordPress site that automatically gathers and publishes content from other sources. We’ll show you how to make an autoblog in WordPress in this article.

What exactly is a WordPress Autoblog?

An autoblog, also known as an automated blog, is a website that pulls content from other websites automatically via RSS feeds.

The term is most often associated with content scrapers and spam blogs. However, there are a plethora of perfectly viable and profitable applications for autoblogging software.

An autoblog, for example, can also be used to generate a curated website that gathers reports on particular subjects and afterward present them under one roof. An autoblog can be used on company intranets as well as private websites.

After that, let’s look at how to set up an autoblog in WordPress.

Using WordPress to Create an Autoblog

Install and activate the WP RSS Aggregator plugin first. For more details, refer to our step-by-step instructions for installing a WordPress plugin.

The basic plugin is free, but you will need the Advanced Feeds Bundle paid addons for this tutorial.

The price for a single site license with a year of support and updates starts at $139.

After installing and activating all of the addons, go to RSS Aggregator » Add New to add a new feed source.

You must first give this feed source a title and then provide the RSS feed URL.

Next, scroll down to the ‘Feed to Post’ section. You must select a post type for imported feed items here.

By default, the plugin will import posts as draughts. If you’d like, you can change that to published.

Do make sure to check the box next to the ‘Force full content’ option. Selecting this option can allow WP RSS Aggregator to obtain the complete text of posts.

The following step is to configure the ‘Feed to post – images’ section. This is where you configure how your autoblog will handle images.

It could instantly extract images from feed sources and also store them in your WordPress media library. It can also retrieve the first image in the content and use it as the featured image. You must configure these options to meet your specific needs.

There are various other options on the Add New Feed Source page. You can go over them and modify them to suit your specific requirements.

You can use keyword filtering to import or exclude content that matches specific keywords or tags. You can also insert custom content before or after the source article.

When finished, click the Publish Feed button.

You can now visit your posts section and see feed items that have been imported into your WordPress site.

If necessary, repeat the process to add additional feed sources. You can check the status of your feeds by going to RSS Aggregator » Feed Sources.

Easily Adding Multiple Feed Sources to Your Autoblog

Adding and configuring each feed source one by one can be time-consuming. Here’s how to quickly add multiple feeds at once using the same settings.

Navigate to RSS Aggregator » Settings and select the Feed to Post tab. You can configure the default settings for the feed to post addon here.

This setup would be implemented to all feed sources which you add for the next step.

Then, go to RSS Aggregator » Import & Export. You should enter the name and URL of your feed sources in the import box.

Separate the name and feed URL with a comma and space. Add one feed source per line.

After which, select the bulk import button to immediately add all the feed sources to your WordPress autoblog.

That’s all there is to it; we hope this article aided you in creating an Autoblog in WordPress.

Editor’s Note: Caution!

If you are creating a public autoblog, please do not scrape full content or images because you will be committing copyright infringement.

An autoblog is best used within a company intranet. If you’re creating a curated news site, include summaries and a link to the original source for the full article.
